Breast density can be seen only on one equipment and that is a mammogram. Women aging around 40 or more than 40 think that if their breast is firm than it is dense. If you have dense breast tissue than the breast screening becomes more difficult and it also increases the risk of breast cancer which is also hard to detect. This breast tissue appears on a mammogram. The doctors determine the dense breast tissue with the non-dense breast tissue. This results in the level of breast density. Also, the level of breast density varies.
Levels of breast density are mentioned below:
· Scattered areas of fibro-glandular density — In this type of breast density, we see that the majority of the breast tissue is not dense.
· Almost entirely fatty — In this type of breast density level we see that the breast is entirely composed of fat.
· Extremely dense — In this type of breast density nearly all the breast tissues are dense. This type of result can be found in 1 out of 10 women.
· Heterogeneously dense — In this type of breast density we find that there are some areas where breast tissue is non-dense and the majority of the breast tissue is dense.
If you have a dense breast it will affect your body in two ways. First, it will increase the chance of having breast cancer which might not be identified by mammogram. Secondly, it increases the risk of breast cancer because it can become hard to diagnose it in dense breast.
